The day I became a Mrs.

April 6,2012

I dreamed of this day since I was a little girl. I have always been a hopeless romantic. So much of my time was spent dreaming of my future husband and our wedding day. April 6, 2012, the day that all of those dreams were becoming a reality. I was nervous, nervous, nervous. I wasn't nervous because I thought I was making the wrong decision. I was nervous because my groom was a freakin hottie and I was the lucky girl about to say I do. Can you blame me for a few butterflies? I used tissues to wipe my sweaty hands off numerous times before we were wed. The moment I saw Josh all I could think about were those childhood wedding dreams. Although my dream groom was pretty amazing, Josh surpasses him by far.
Our ceremony was beautiful and sweet. There were tears shed by most in the room. I tried not to concentrate on anyone, but Josh or I would have lost it and flooded the place with happy tears. There was a moment when my sweet groom got choked up...I will always remember the look on his face. Words were spoken about love and commitment and promises. I promised that handsome groom my forever and he promised right back.
After all was said and done it was time for some love from family and picture taking. All of the little girls treated me like a princess. I sure felt like one. The girls loved holding my flowers too.  I felt so much love. I also felt hot! Dallas Texas and a big ole wedding dress=BURNING!!! I loved my dress, but wanted to rip it off as soon as possible.

The bridal shower

February 2012

My bridal shower was thrown by my mom and other sweet women in my life. I wanted the theme to be a hot air balloon love theme. I could just picture Josh and I flying away in a hot air balloon madly in love. That may sound silly, but it's what this bride wanted. The day of the shower it was pouring down rain. Pouring. There were supposed to be balloons to complete the theme, but they all popped due to the weather. We went with it anyways. Everyone was so generous with the gift giving. We needed so much, but got almost everything we needed from family and friends. There was plenty of party food and tons of eating on my part. Just looking at the cake picture makes me want to lick my screen.  I'm thankful for everyone who was so supportive of Josh and I during all the wedding festivities.

It's hard to tell but the cake says, "Up up and away!"

It took a lot for me not to cram that cake in my mouth.

My mom makes the best fruit displays. See those daisies.

I was dreaming of being a wifey who bakes.

I'll go inside someday

March 2012

I always dreamed of the day that I would be able to go to the temple. All temples are so very beautiful and peaceful. The Baton Rouge, Louisiana temple is no exception. What a blessing to have a temple that is only a few hours of driving away. I was nervous to go through the temple for the first time to receive my endowment. It made it easier that I had so many wonderful ladies in my life go with me for the first time. On the three hour drive I was entertained with some hilarious and sweet newlywed stories from the group. I laughed so hard that all some of my nerves went away. Going through the temple for the first time is an experience I will never forget. There was so much peace, new understanding, emotion, and happiness felt that day. My heart swells thinking of my mom holding my hand in that eternally beautiful temple.

After the temple I was initiated into the temple club with a trip to Copelands. After every temple trip these ladies go on they always go to the same restaurant to pig out on New Orleans style food. I can't blame them. I ate way too much and of course even got some dessert.

Catching up

I'm in a funk. I blame it on that time of the month. Lately, I have wanted to blog more. For numerous reasons (no internet, time, ect), I haven't gotten around to it. I've done a really poor job of recording things for myself and my family in written words. I've got a lot of catching up to do. So I'm just going to start with past major events and go from there. Like hello....I never even wrote down anything about my wedding, honeymoon, or finished my love story. So here goes nothing. Cheers to recording for posterity's sake.

The original Home Alone

Things I do when Josh is away on business trips....

1. Watch You've Got Mail.
2. Eat junk food and drink dr pepper.
3. Play Taylor Swift really loud while taking a shower.
4. Write in my journal.
5. Watch trashy girl tv ( reality tv) in bed.
6. Wrap Christmas presents from Santa.

It may all sound fun, but by the end of the night all I want is my fella. Life is good when he's in it. Even if he does hate trashy girl tv and insists the neighbors don't want to hear my T-Swift mix.

Cold camping

We recently went camping for a weekend adventure. I was pretty excited for a campfire, s'mores, and tent dwelling. In my mind I would be an amazing camper who gathered wood and made a gourmet meal over a fire I made myself. In reality, I have a really amazing husband who works his bootay off to build me a fire alone because I'm wearing two jackets and am frozen to a chair. It was so cold. There were times where I didn't know if I would be able to endure sleeping on the freezing ground all night. When I complained (I did frequently) Josh would remind me of the great pioneers who endured way more than I have ever been asked to. Camping turned into a gratitude affair. I'm thankful for my bed, covers, Starbucks hot chocolate, our apartment, heaters, and jackets!

That one time I was so scared, I was HAPPY

Yesterday, I planned a fun shopping day with my cousin and her cute little boy. I knew I had nothing else going on because Josh was on a business trip. We shopped and shopped and looked and looked. Christmas was everywhere. I love Christmas. While we were walking around the mall, Josh called me and texted me frequently. I thought, "Wow he must really be missing me this trip." At our last stop, Hobby Lobby, Josh texted me "Are you home yet??" "Almost done?" "Amanda??" My thoughts..this boy lost all of his patience in Mississippi.

We were finally done and I arrived back at our apartment. I opened our front door and noticed candles everywhere. "OH NO! I left all of these candles romantically burning while I was gone!...Wait, No I didn't!" Second thought, "A murderer is trying to seduce me!" I stood in the door way for a good two minutes contemplating what to do with my romantic murderer. Then I heard a ring. It was Josh's phone. WHAT?? So I walked into the house and turned the corner to find my handsome husband holding a sign that said "I'm your BIG surprise! Are you Surprised? I love you!" He is the best surprise I have ever received. We sat down to eat dinner that he had prepared. A simple tuna sandwich and salad. It was absolutely perfect.

Josh attempted to record the entire thing, but couldn't due to the fact that his phone rang in the middle of it. Good attempt though. haha I'm glad my romantic murderer turned out to be my romantic husband.
